Integrating Intersectoral Learning Opportunities in Nursing Education

This webinar series provides nurse educators with information, resources, and strategies that will assist in the development of intersectoral collaboration experiences for students. Participants will explore selected literature on the definitions and parameters of intersectoral collaboration in classroom and clinical education for nurses. Participants will examine personal and institutional challenges, opportunities and supports for developing initiatives, courses, and programs that include meaningful intersectoral collaboration experiences utilizing existing resources.

Requirements

Participation in three live course webinars, in the weekly courses discussion forum and submission of two learning activities.

Audience

Educators and nursing leaders in academic environments.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the common definitions and parameters of intersectoral collaboration (ISC) and distinguish it from interprofessional and intraprofessional education.
  2. Identify evidence-informed resources on designing, implementing, and evaluating ISC initiatives for classroom and clinical applications.
  3. Discuss the resources, challenges, opportunities and supports for developing meaningful intersectoral collaborative experiences for students.
  4. Garner new ideas as you interact with those who have developed intersectoral education experiences in a variety of settings, and with a variety of different partners.
  5. Plan strategies to meet the challenges, to act on the opportunities and to enable the supports in your environment.
  6. Develop strategies to address the development of intersectoral collaboration.
