Implementing Interprofessional Education: Best-evidence, Strategies and Experiences

Course Dates:

  • May 15th, May 22nd, June 5th, 2024 (3:00 PM EDT – 5:00 PM EDT)

Course Description:

Participants will explore the nature of scholarship, develop the necessary skills to pursue it, and understand the personal and institutional challenges involved. They will also learn about opportunities and support systems available to build scholarship capacity.

Requirements:

  • Attend three live course webinars
  • Participate weekly in the course discussion forum
  • Submit two learning activities

Course Audience:

Educators in non-research intensive academic environments.

Course Objectives / Themes:

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the common definitions and parameters of interprofessional education (IPE).
  2. Identify evidence-based resources on designing, implementing, and evaluating IPE initiatives.
  3. Discuss the resources, challenges, opportunities and supports for developing meaningful interprofessional experiences for students.
  4. Identify resources to assist with integrating these experiences into your courses and to those at an institutional level.
  5. Garner new ideas as you interact with those who have developed interprofessional education experiences in a variety of settings, and with a variety of different partners.
  6. Plan strategies to meet the challenges, to act on the opportunities and to enable the supports in your environment.
  7. Develop a plan to address the development of competencies related to IPE.
